Fourteen little tips from Cycle Krazy

This is just a list of 15 tips that aren’t long enough to warrant their own topic so i have condensed them into 1 post

1. Brake pad gap, remember that when you climb your wheel will flex so make sure you have about 1 to 2 mm either side so that you dont rub against the pad while climbing.

2. If you have spent a few weeks off the bike for some reason such as illness, you should drop your saddle a few mm. The time off the bike would mean you lost some flexibility, best way to regain it is slowly.

3. Train with strong riders. They will push your harder and you will get more out of your time on the bike.

4. Recover when needed, During heavy training schedules take the days off or do short slow easy rides. Your body needs this time.

5.Warm up and cool down. You will get more out of your workouts and will feel better after them.

6. Eat correctly, a good training plan should be coupled with a good diet. you get out what you put in.

7. Buy a power meter. I know they are expensive but if you are serious about improving then this is the best way.

8. Define yourself a training plan, know why you are riding that day and what you want to achieve. If you want to be really serious get yourself a coach.

9. Race conservatively and train hard.

10. Wear a helmet. This is law around most of the civilized world now anyway.

11. Carry enough food and water for your ride. when you eat, eat lightly often, no pigging out mid ride.

12. Service your bike regularly.

13. Take wet weather gear if it looks like it might rain.

14. Don’t overlap wheels in group rides.
